ABOUT KaYa

Our Story

In the ongoing pursuit for mental health awareness and wellness for the UPOU community, the Kalinga at Yakap (KaYa) application is the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod’s attempt in providing a platform for catering mental health needs through free mental health-related webinars, stress management videos, creative space and online community, personal e-journals, and psychosocial support sessions.

The development of this app started with the conceptualization inspired by a “one-stop shop” kind of mental wellness app under programs of Committee on Psychosocial Emergency Services (CoPES) with Asst. Prof. Ria Valeria Cabanes as the UPOU Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Representative. Then the Pahinungod volunteers Jaden Tomacruz, Faith Margaux Caubang and Demeter Caubang pitched in ideas, bringing to life what was initially a written text. They helped in the theme, graphics and even in the programming of the app. Inviting Mr. Alvin Silva of Cognitio+ in the team allowed the learning of integrating existing application systems into what was already created. Continuing the development, through collaboration with ICT Development Office, KaYa now has functional features that is available to the UPOU community.

KaYa, as a mental health application, still has ways to go but in time, development will get it through.
